TaylorMade has teamed up with PGA Tour star (and TaylorMade staff player) Rory McIlroy to create an innovative set of junior golf clubs specifically designed for young golfers.
The new clubs, which the company is calling “Rory Junior Golf Sets,” feature a full line of sticks: driver, fairway woods, rescue, irons, wedges and a putter. They are aimed at junior golfers who are just getting started playing the game.
Often the difficulty of golf can turn off beginners, so these clubs are designed to make it easy to hit high-launching shots, increasing confidence and, presumably, fun for the new hacker. McIlroy is on board with this philosophy.
“For me, confidence is the most important thing when I’m standing on the tee,” McIlroy said in a press release. “This driver has been specially designed to help young golfers hit it far and straight so they can start building their confidence from the first time they tee it up.”
The Rory Junior driver is made from titanium, and its 16° loft and 400cc-sized head makes it easy to hit and produce high launching drives. The woods and rescue clubs feature much of the technology in the premier TaylorMade offerings, and the irons are made from 17-4 stainless steel.
The Rory Junior Golf Set also includes two wedges (54° and 56°) as well as a center-shafted mid-mallet putter to allow the young golfer to align and stroke putts with ease.
There are two different sets available, the 4 Plus set aimed at players 4 and up, and the 8 Plus set, designed for slightly older junior golfers. Both sets will be available for purchase on Dec. 7 and include a Rory St. Bernard headcover for the driver. Below is the rundown for each set, courtesy of TaylorMade.
