Course Overview
One of the first designs Gil Hanse completed after the success of his work on Rio de Janeiro’s Olympic Golf Course, Mossy Oak quickly established itself as one of Mississippi’s finest designs. The course came to be when the outdoor-lifestyle brand of the same name partnered with West Point native George Bryan and acquired an old dairy farm across the street from another one of Bryan’s developments, Old Waverly Golf Club. There are few trees on the property, allowing room for large, undulating greens with open approach areas, and wide fairways with artfully built and strategically placed bunkering. Hanse’s calling card, on what is Mississippi State’s home course, is evident: accessible for high handicappers yet still challenging for the scratch player.
