Course Overview

Taconic is nestled in the Berkshire Mountains of western Massachusetts. In 1896, Williams College gifted the land for nine holes to three founding members. Three decades later, the college gave more land to Wayne Stiles, a preeminent New England course designer, to extend the course into a full 18, which to this day serves as the home course for both the Williams’ men’s and women’s golf teams. When years later the irrigation required upgrading and trees needed removing, Taconic retained Gil Hanse for a full renovation of arguably Stiles’ best design. Hanse was enamored by the routing, saying it was “perhaps the strongest feature of the design. The golf course perfectly traverses the rolling terrain and the diversity of the layout is inherent in each shot played.”
