On Sunday at Royal Troon, there’s more than a dozen players with a realistic chance to win the 152nd Open Championship and claim the final major of the 2024 season.

Billy Horschel opened the day with a one-shot lead over six players, but World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, perhaps the biggest threat to Horschel, started the day just two off the lead. A handful of other players are in the mix, too.

The pro who can pull away from this group will lift the Claret Jug on Sunday evening and claim the $3.1 million winner’s check.

The $3.1 million payday is an Open Championship record, as is the $17 million total purse, which is $500,000 more than last year’s. The Open runner-up receives $1.759 million, and third place gets $1.128 million.

Compared to golf’s other majors, Bryson DeChambeau won $4.3 million at the U.S. Open last month, Xander Schauffele won $3.33 million at the PGA Championship and Scottie Scheffler took home $3.6 million from the Masters.
