The 2023 Tour Championship, the finale of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, begins on Thursday at East Lake in Atlanta. FedEx Cup points leader Scottie Scheffler enters the tournament with a two-stroke lead, but will it be enough?
In the past four years — since the PGA Tour changed to a staggered-start format — only twice has the leader coming into the week won the tournament. The other two times, Rory McIlroy battled all the way back and won.
Who knows what will happen this year, as Viktor Hovland heads to Atlanta coming off a Sunday 61 to win the BMW Championship and jump to second in the standings. Will Hovland stay hot? Or will someone like McIlroy, who starts three off the lead, make a charge once again?
Golf Channel will air the first-round action from 1-6 p.m. ET on Thursday. Golf Channel also has the broadcast on Friday and will split the weekend TV coverage with CBS.
