Maridoe Golf Club observed safety measures.

Jordan Spieth observed a hole-in-one.

Spieth’s golf ball observed from the bottom of the water.

All in about 10 seconds.

Playing at his home club on Thursday as part of the Maridoe Samaritan Fund Invitational in Carrollton, Texas, the three-time major champion hit a sand wedge into the 110-yard, par-3 17th hole, according to the Golf Channel. His ball went exactly the 110 yards. His ball hit the cup’s center – and the cup’s plastic spacer, in place to prevent players from touching the flagstick during the coronavirus pandemic.

His ball ricocheted into the water nearby.

Speith with an Ace or Double Bogey on 17? It sunk in the hole, bounced out (we believe 100% because of the spacer – see scuff marks on new ball) and rolled back in the water. Romo decided it could be counted as a hole in one, except for their bet. pic.twitter.com/NTHzWnXWlt

Spieth’s group, including former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, marked him down for the double-bogey 5 as part of a match. Spieth marked himself down for four less than that.

“I’m going to count it,” Spieth told Golf Channel. “It was one of those ones where it would most likely have stayed in. … I’ve been shut out for a while, so hopefully this is a good omen.”

Spieth, who was playing in the event as a marker after missing the first two rounds, was also going to observe safety measures for the traditional hole-in-one drinks.

“In a 6-feet-apart way, drinks are on me,” he told Golf Channel.
