RSM Classic: Third round groupings, tee times

Tyler Duncan is alone at the top of the RSM Classic leaderboard heading into the weekend, but if the last two days are any indication, things can change quickly on Sea Island’s Seaside Course.

Duncan took command of the tournament with a seven-birdie, one-eagle round of nine-under-par 61 on Friday, launching himself into the lead by two shots over Sebastian Munoz, Rhein Gibson and D.J. Trahan. Duncan is seeking his maiden PGA Tour victory. His last best finish was T5 at last season’s AT&T Byron Nelson.

Red numbers are rampant this week, as players needed to shoot four under par or better over two days just to make the cut. Webb Simpson, who led after Thursday’s first round after an opening 65, fell back to T11 after a second round of two under.

Other players within striking distance: Ricky Barnes (-11), Fabian Gomez (-11), and a four-way tie at 10 under that includes Scott Brown, Kyoung-Hoon Lee, Henrik Norlander, and recent back-to-back Tour champion Brendon Todd.

For Saturday’s third round, the players will tee off on both No. 1 and No. 10 in threesomes between 9:20 a.m. and 11:20 a.m. ET. Duncan will play in the final grouping off of No. 1, alongside Munoz and Gibson.
