Here’s how to play four rounds over two days at Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa for less than $1,500 per person

October 11, 2019

The PGA Tour is in Texas this week for the Houston Open at the Golf Club of Houston’s Tournament Course, and if watching the Tour take on the Lone Star State has you hankerin’ for your own Texas golf experience, I have a perfect buddy trip destination for you: the Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa just outside of Austin, and one of GOLF’s recently-honored Top 100 resorts in North America.

The course has not one, not two, but four affiliated courses to play. Here’s how you can plan an epic buddy weekend to play all four over two days for less than $1,500 per person.

AIRFARE: ~$250 each

From west coast airports like LAX and Seattle, a direct flight to Austin ranges from $177-$265. From an east coast airport like JFK, you’re looking at $286 (prices via Kayak). So let’s assume you’ll spend approximately $250 per person on flights.

Total airfare: ~$250 per person

GROUND TRANSPORTATION: $96.50

At the Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa, one of the four courses is located approximately 40 minutes away from the resort, and transportation there is not included with your stay. You can book a round-trip shuttle from the resort, but since you’ll need transportation from the airport anyway, I recommend just renting a car from the get-go.

A full size SUV like a Chevy Tahoe will keep your group comfortable (as well as fit all your clubs and luggage), and with Budget, you can get one for $386 for your weekend (price via Kayak), which comes out to only $96.50 per person.

TOTAL SPEND: $250 + $96.50 = $346.50

LODGING & GREEN FEES: $854.36

One of the coolest things about the Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa is the way it caters to travelers like us, who just want to play as much golf as possible during our stay.

Enter: The Unlimited Golf Package, which, true to its name, offers unlimited golf on each of the resort’s four courses (subject to availability), lodging, and daily breakfast. (A two-night minimum stay is required, which is luckily all you need to see all four courses.) In case you need more convincing, the Fazio Canyons course appears on GOLF’s most recent ranking of the Top 100 Courses You Can Play.

For dates in October and November, the four green fees alone would total $760, so it’s safe to say this is a pretty great deal — especially if you opt to play 36 a day.

TOTAL SPEND: $346.50 + $854.36 = $1,200.86

With the Unlimited Golf Package, you'll likely experience a few holes during the magic hour.

DINING: $200

With your breakfasts covered by the Omni’s Unlimited Golf package, you can feel free to spend the rest of your budget on golf course lunches and two nice dinners:

Day 1 lunch: $25

Day 1 dinner: $50

Day 2 lunch: $25

Day 2 dinner: $50

Miscellaneous drinks, snacks: $50

Total dining spend: $200

TOTAL SPEND: $1,200.86 + $200 = $1,400.86

And there you have it! Two nights, four rounds of golf and an epicly memorable buddy trip, all for under $1,500 per person. Ready to book? Happy travels!
