Commentators crack funny joke after Jon Rahm’s pre-round kiss with fiancée Kelley Cahill

September 22, 2019

Jon Rahm came into the final round of the 2019 BMW Championship at Wentworth tied for the 54-hole lead with Danny Willett, eyeing his fifth European Tour victory in one of the biggest events of the season. But amid all the tension, as Rahm walked to the the first tee ahead of a pressure-packed round, viewers at home were treated to a rather funny joke courtesy of the TV commentators.

It was a rather innocuous moment, really. The camera tracked Rahm as he strolled to the first tee when the Spaniard stopped and shared a nice pre-round moment with his fiancee, Kelley Cahill. The couple kissed and viewers could hear Cahill tell Rahm, “I love you.” There was a slightly awkward silence afterwords — the commentators apparently not knowing what to say — when one of them cracked a joke to end the silence, eliciting a few laughs from those around him.

“The spectators are so friendly here, it’s lovely.”

A funny, unexpected moment, which you can watch in full clip below:
