Padraig Harrington’s new dog is named after his longtime sponsor
Padraig Harrington sure loves his equipment sponsor. He loves Wilson so much that he named his first pup after the company. Let us welcome in Wilson Harrington to the golf dog world.
Padraig is one year out from crunch time as the European Ryder Cup captain, often a stressful position. So why not get a dog? And an adorable one at that?
Birdied the last to make the cut @BMWPGA @EuropeanTour but it wasn’t the best thing that happened today. Meet “Wilson” who arrived today. First ever dog for me. pic.twitter.com/oOh1rTT4sH

Wilson will have to get comfortable walking in the fairways, not getting too crazy in the bunkers, etc., but there are few better places for a pup to roam than on the golf course. If you need any further proof of that, check out Dogs of Turf on Twitter. That’s a must-follow for any golf-loving dog person. Or dog-loving golf person. Or just Padraig Harrington himself.
Harrington is doing his best to play the weekend at the BMW PGA Championship. He made birdie on the final hole of his second round to move inside the cutline, and he should be safe, but there are a few more golfers still finishing their second round Saturday morning. If Harrington doesn’t make the cut, at least he’s still got Wilson to hang out with.
