Five sunglasses that you can wear on and off the golf course

August 16, 2019

It wasn’t long ago that golf sunglasses were an afterthought—an accessory you donned before or after your round but rarely during. Now, with sun protection at top of mind, shielding your eyes from harmful UV rays is a priority.

So jump on the bandwagon with these stylish frames that are sure to add a cool factor to every summer round.

SHADES THAT SHINE

If you’re looking for a pair of glasses that will transition seamlessly from the course to the rest of your life, this selection from Gucci (pictured above) is the perfect choice. The sporty frame is flattering for just about every face shape, while the pop of color on the lenses offers just the right degree of youthful trendiness to show that while you care about quality craftsmanship, you still pay attention to what’s current. SPORTY AND STYLIN’

Oakley is no stranger to the sport-sunglass game, and the company’s latest creation, the Mercenary, is an impressive addition to the family. “Prizm” lenses enhance color, contrast and detail, while the nosepads actually tighten their grip
as perspiration increases. The double-bridge frame design looks pretty cool, too. Oakley Mercenary sunglasses, $203; oakley.com.

A TREND TO PLAY AROUND IN

In case you haven’t noticed, round frames are everywhere. But instead of feeling dated, this resurrected throwback shape looks fresh and sophisticated in its modern iterations. Showcase your sartorial savvy by donning a pair during your next round. BEFORE YOU BUY… choose the right frame for your face shape

Most of us fall into the following face-shape categories: oval, heart (wide at forehead, narrow at jaw), round, square (equally wide cheekbones, forehead and jaw), and triangle (narrow forehead and wide jaw).

Oval: Just about everything will look good, but wide and oversized frames will be particularly flattering.

Heart: Round/oval shapes are definitely your best bet.

Round: Sharp-angled and wide frames are a good choice for you.

Square: Go with rimless and/or round frames.

Triangle: You’ll shine in horn-rimmed and cat-eye styles.
