WATCH: Shane Lowry leads sing-along at Irish pub while holding Claret Jug
Shane Lowry is now a major champion after winning the Open Championship on Sunday at Royal Portrush. The 32-year-old Irishman shot 15 under for the tournament and beat Tommy Fleetwood by six shots.
To the surprise of absolutely no one, Lowry hasn’t stopped celebrating since the final putt on Sunday. After uniting the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland behind him, Lowry seems to have taken his party to the pubs where the faithful who cheered for him all week could congregate with their new champion.
While standing on what appears to be a bench along a wall late Sunday night or early Sunday morning, Lowry leads the entire bar in an Irish sing-along. While singing, Lowry is holding the Claret Jug as the bar’s patrons (including his very own caddie!) are all holding full glasses of beer. One person even hands a full beer to Lowry during the song. There’s music playing as well to accompany the singing, and almost everyone has their phones out recording the moment.
At the end of the song, Lowry kisses the trophy he earned for his win and finally drinks the full beer he’s been given. An entire Irish bar singing together in unison? A pretty awesome scene right here.

It’s fair to say that Lowry’s celebration is a well-deserved one that won’t be ending in Ireland anytime soon.
