Masters 2019: This is the key to Tiger Woods’s Masters chances, according to geeky new infographic

Will Tiger Woods win the Masters? That’s the question on every golf fan’s mind. So many people want it to happen so badly, but instead of asking yourself wether it will happen — something nobody can ever truly predict — let’s ask ourselves how it could happen.

And thanks to this handy new infographic from the bright minds over at Golfible, that question just became easier to answer.

So, what are the keys to a fifth green jacket for Tiger Woods? Well, according to a statistical breakdown of how he won his previous four Masters tournaments, own the par 5s. As you can see, he’s an astonishing 156 under par on holes 2, 8, 13 and 15, which includes a mind-boggling 50 under par on the 13th hole alone.

But that’s not all.

We can see from the graph below that holes 1 and 4 seem to be problematic, but I’m more interested in the start of his Amen Corner stretch: Holes 10, 11, and 12, which he’s played in a combined 34 over-par. That’s not overly surprising considering two of them are tricky par 4s. But underlies the point that Tiger’s key to victory will come on the back nine at the Masters.

Anyway, check out the infographic below (head over to Golfible to read more), and keep an eye on how Tiger plays the back nine at Augusta this week. His performance there will probably hold the key to his chances. Run up the margins on the par 5s, and limit the damage everywhere else.
