Waste Management Phoenix Open odds: Favorites and underdogs at TPC Scottsdale

January 29, 2019

The Waste Management Phoenix Open odds are officially out, and the favorites to win this week’s event at TPC Scottsdale in Arizona are household names.

For a third straight week, world No. 6 Jon Rahm enters as the odds-on favorite at a PGA Tour event with 7/1 odds to win at the Stadium Course. Rahm was given the highest odds to win at the Desert Classic earlier this month and at the Farmers Insurance Open, where the 24-year-old finished tied for fifth this past week. Rahm was last victorious at the Hero World Challenge this past December.

World No. 4 Justin Thomas has the second-highest odds this week at 9/1, as the 25-year-old will make his first appearance on Tour since the Sony Open earlier this month. Thomas tied for 16th at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu, Hawaii and has not won on Tour since the Bridgestone Invitational this past August.

Hideki Matsuyama, who won at TPC Scottsdale in back-to-back years in 2016 and 2017, enters this week with the third-highest odds at 12/1. Matsuyama, who is ranked No. 26 in the world, tied for third at Torrey Pines last week. He last won on Tour at the Bridgestone Invitational in 2017.

The defending champion Gary Woodland is listed with 18/1 odds to win, as well as world No. 7 Xander Schauffele and No. 11 Tony Finau. The 34-year-old Woodland, who currently stands at No. 24 in the world, finished tied for ninth at the Farmers this past week. He hasn’t won on Tour since he shot an 18-under at TPC Scottsdale last year.
