ALBANY, The Bahamas — Patrick Reed has spent the weeks and months following the Ryder Cup sounding off in the press — the latest to the New York Post on Wednesday. Captain America criticized the “lack of communication” on the decision to split up his partnership with Jordan Spieth, before coyly adding that Jordan “has my number.”
Tiger Woods, who was Reed’s partner during the Ryder Cup and is the upcoming Presidents cup captain, is in a unique position through it all. He was asked about it after his first round at the Hero World Challenge. He responded — well, kind of.
“Yeah, we spoke after the Ryder Cup for a long period of time and, you know, we talked amongst us and it will stay between us.”
A long period of time you say? Interesting! Unfortunately, that was about all we got. He elaborated a little bit more except not really.
“Well, some of the things that, as I’ve said, it’s between us and we’ll be handling it between us.”
So, Tiger taking the diplomatic route. But what did Reed himself have to say about it?
“I mean, whatever I talk about with other players and other guys, you know, stays between the guys.”
Yup. We’re not getting anything. Though the positive from Tiger Woods’ perspective is that he’s got his Presidents Cup team under control — for now.
