A SWING-MECHANICS REVOLUTION
Bryson DeChambeau’s setup looks a little awkward to most people. His hands are high and his arms are very straight—how can he hit a golf ball like that? The answer is actually quite simple: That’s how most golfers look at impact. Rather than moving into that position during the swing, Bryson simplifies things by presetting his impact position at address, then works to maintain that arm structure throughout his swing. His single-length clubs complement this “single plane” move. It may seem odd now, but don’t be surprised to see the move become more mainstream in the future.
