The final round of the BMW Championship kicks off Monday morning in a race to get the tournament finished. More of Mother Nature’s wrath is on its way to the Philadelphia area.
After Sunday’s play was postponed completely, more rain and thunderstorms are expected to hit Aronimink Golf Club Monday. The worst of the weather is set to arrive in the afternoon. So, tee times have been moved up to begin at 7:30 a.m. local time. The final trio (Justin Rose, Xander Schauffele, Rory McIlroy) is set to go off at 9:20 a.m.
The goal is to have at least half the field finish their final round Monday, which would offer up a Tuesday finish if the weather wouldn’t allow everyone to finish. That’s the cut-off point — half. If not half of the 69 players finish, then we’ll see our first 54-hole finish this season.

If the tournament is ultimately limited to just 54 holes, Rose will be your champion after firing a third-round 64 Saturday. Will this be a big deal? Depends on who you ask. Jordan Spieth is currently slated to miss the Tour Championship by just a few strokes, which means he’ll likely come up short on a PGA Tour scheduling rule, and be suspended for three tournaments.
What’s more, the final Ryder Cup captain’s pick is at stake for the American team. Xander Schauffele and Tony Finau, among others, are vying for that spot. Jim Furyk’s press conference to announce that pick was originally scheduled for Monday morning but has since been canceled.
