New premium-priced Callaway Epic Forged irons are the complete package

July 16, 2019

Callaway designers have been on fire for awhile now, as iron models like the Rogue, Rogue X, Apex CF 16, and the new Apex 19 have positioned the company as a leader in the iron market. As models have continued to improve with multiple iterations, best exemplified by the Apex 19 model, it’s not totally surprising that the all-new ultra premium Epic Forged irons ($300 per club) are potentially the best of the bunch.

Aimed at a wide range of players who want exceptional looks, feel, distance, and forgiveness, and willing to pay a premium price, the new Epic Forged irons are the complete package. Forged from soft carbon steel and fitted with very thin clubfaces with Callaway’s 360 Face Cup for big time distance (several mph faster ball speed than Apex 19, according to Dave Neville, Senior Director Brand Management, Callaway), the Epic Forged irons are literally packed with tech but maintain an elegant appearance throughout the set. Precise CG locations and controlled trajectory in each individual iron is due to a tungsten core that’s wrapped in a TPU material and suspended in urethane microspheres to absorb unwanted vibration without impeding clubface flex at impact.

To further enhance both control and distance the long irons in the set feature variable face thicknesses for more consistent spin rates, while the short irons are built with MIM’d tungsten weights higher in the clubhead for more precise shotmaking. The package is topped of with some of the highest quality components including Aerotech Steelfiber FC or Mitsubishi AV Silver shafts and Golf Pride Tour Velvet Align Silver Grips.

We know $300 per stick isn’t exactly cheap, but if you’re in the market for ultra premium looking and performing irons, the Epic Forged is a must try.

The Epic Forged irons will be available at retail on August 2nd.
