Welcome to The Perfect Match, a new six-part series, powered by Cisco Webex, in which we’re asking players and their confidants a variety of questions to gauge just how well they know one other. This week’s featured pairing: LPGA stars (and sisters!) Jessica and Nelly Korda.

You’d be hard-pressed to find a more genetically gifted and accomplished family than the Kordas. Jessica and Nelly’s parents, Petr and Regina, were professional tennis players, and the girls’ younger brother, Sebastian, has followed in their parents’ footsteps.

Jessica and Nelly, meanwhile, are both ranked in the top 27 in the world, and have the distinction of being only the third pair of sisters to win LPGA titles in the tour’s history.

Jessica has five career victories while Nelly has three, but Nelly’s stellar play of late has her positioned to make a run at the top spot in the world ranking. The two play every practice round together and admit to spending much of their downtime in each other’s company, too. There’s no doubting their sisterly bond, but do they know each other well enough to answer GOLF’s probing questions?

Welcome to The Perfect Match, a new six-part series, powered by Cisco Webex, in which we’re asking players and their confidants a variety of questions to gauge just how well they know one other. This week’s featured pairing: Maverick McNealy and his Walker Cup teammate turned analytics advisor, Hunter Stewart.

Maverick McNealy is primed to make a splash on the PGA Tour. The 25-year-old Stanford graduate had a stellar career as an amateur, notching 11 wins as a Cardinal, matching the victory tallies of two other notable Stanford players: Tiger Woods and Patrick Rodgers. McNealy was the top-ranked amateur in the world and competed on the 2017 Walker Cup before turning professional. He then earned his PGA Tour card in 2019 after spending one season on the Korn Ferry Tour, and already has three top 10s.

Hunter Stewart played alongside McNealy at the 2015 and 2017 Walker Cup and has since begun a career in stat analytics, working primarily for McNealy.

It’s clear the duo clicks when it comes to their work on the course, but how well do they really know one another?

It hasn’t taken long for 23-year-old Viktor Hovland to make an impact on the PGA Tour. After winning the U.S. Amateur in 2018, Hovland claimed low-am honors at the 2019 Masters and finished 12th at the 2019 U.S. Open as an amateur with a four-round total of 280, breaking the amateur scoring record set by Jack Nicklaus in 1960 by two shots. And in February, Hovland won his first Tour event at the Puerto Rico Open. Veteran caddie Shay Knight has been by Hovland’s side since Hovland turned professional, and it’s obvious that the duo’s on-course relationship is rock-solid.

Two-time PGA Tour winner Chez Reavie and his caddie, Justin York, have a lot in common. They both grew up in Arizona and attended Arizona State University. York has been on the bag for Reavie for the better part of a decade, including Reavie’s victory at the 2019 Travelers Championship. Reavie is currently in the midst of the longest stretch of his career inside the World Top 50. It’s clear that the pair’s long history together has been paying off.

But how well do they really know one another?

Brett has been on the bag for four of Kang’s five wins as well as last year’s Solheim Cup, and this year alone, Kang and Brett teamed to win both the LPGA Drive on Championship and the Marathon LPGA Classic in back-to-back weeks. In short, they’re a formidable duo.

PGA Tour winner Keith Mitchell and his caddie, “Crunchy” Pete Persolja, have a long history together, with Persolja first looping for Mitchell when he earned medalist honors at a U.S. Amateur qualifying tournament. Mitchell turned pro in 2014 and, in 2019, the duo won the Honda Classic together.

But how well do they really know one another?

In the debut episode of The Perfect Match, we put their relationship to the test, and as it turns out, the bond is strong.

Persolja’s go-to post-round meals and favorite music? Mitchell’s all over it. The best advice Persolja ever gave Mitchell? It’s a great story (hint: it involves using a putter from an unlikely place). As for how well Persolja knows Mitchell? The caddie can reel off specifics about how his boss likes his coffee, the weirdest thing in his bag, even what Mitchell would be doing if he wasn’t a professional golfer.
