The Greenbrier Classic to Offer Free Admission to Tournament

May 18, 2016

The Greenbrier Classic announced Wednesday it will offer free admission to its tournament this summer, becoming the first PGA Tour event in the FedExCup series to do so.

Complimentary grounds access will be given to those who register for tickets online and then donate a non-perishable food item at the event. Donations will go to area food pantries.

“People are hurting, and we wanted to do something to help,” said Jim Justice, Greenbrier owner and CEO, in a release. “West Virginians have always been original and come up with novel ideas, and this is our contribution to the game of golf. We’re so excited to be able to be the first to offer an opportunity like this.”

Tickets that have already been purchased will be automatically upgraded with certain club status or can be refunded.

The tournament will be held July 4-10 at the Old White TPC Course in Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Danny Lee won last year’s event in a playoff. Tiger Woods finished T32.
