Nick Faldo wasn’t one of the longest hitters in his prime. He played an accuracy game. But he’s been chasing distance recently, and that’s what led him down the path to his partnership with SQAIRZ. It was Faldo himself who actually first reached out to the company, because he was looking for shoes with more stability, and they’ve been his go-to shoes ever since.
“With SQAIRZ, it’s not just about style, it’s science. It’ll help your stability, your comfort, and give you that little bit of an advantage that everybody wants,” Faldo says.

That advantage, Faldo says, often comes down to two things: Better stability, and better balance. If you have both of those things in your golf swing, you’ll quickly start gaining swing speed, Faldo says.
1. Why you need better balance
Balance is a hugely important quality in a every golf swing, and can be a big potential power drain if you lack it.
“A lot of people think balance applies only to the finish, but they’re wrong. If you can’t balance at the start of your swing, you won’t find it at the end. ” Faldo says. “Some people think they’ll be able to fix that during the swing, but they won’t be able to. Your body will end up spending so much effort trying not to fall over that you’ll be costing yourself swing speed.”
2. Why you need to improve your stability
Balance and stability are related, Faldo says, but they’re not the same thing. You can maintain your balance on a tight-rope, for instance, but not necessarily your stability. It’s the melding of the two, Faldo says, that can help boost your power.
“With better balance it’ll be easier to hit the ball a little sweeter, and part of that is giving yourself a stable base,” Faldo says. “A wide stance and the right amount of knee flex will help your balance, and help you use the ground on the way back and through.”
