Thomas Detry is on the cusp of finally breaking through. After eight years as a pro, the 32-year-old is on the brink of his first PGA Tour victory. Through three rounds at the WM Phoenix Open, Detry holds a five-shot lead. All that’s left to do is play 18 more holes of solid golf and the trophy will be his.
Easier said than done. Although Detry has a five-shot advantage through 54 holes, he’ll have to hold off plenty of talented challengers.
Among those tied for second includes former Ryder Cuppers Jordan Spieth, Rasmus Hojgaard and Daniel Berger, while Tour winners Maverick McNealy and Robert MacIntyre also lurk in the top 10. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler also sits within striking distance as he begins the final round eight shots back as he looks to continue his historic run.
No matter who wins on Sunday, it’s sure to be one heck of a show. And for the pro who does eventually lift the trophy, there will be a cool $1.656 million going into their bank account Monday morning.
You can check out the entire payout breakdown below, and you can watch the final round from 1-3. p.m. ET on Golf Channel and 3-6 p.m. ET on CBS.
