Web.com tour player Nick Dougherty stripped down as he entered the edge of a lake for a high-risk play on Sunday. He had no idea just how well that ridiculous escape shot would go.

The 27-year-old Oklahoma St. grad was playing his final round at the Savannah Golf Championship when his tee shot at No. 5 found the water, but remained playable in his eyes. He took his shirt off, delighting the crowd, who egged him on as he entered the water. And he hacked away, sending up a spray of mud and water. But the ball came out just perfectly, landing up on the green and rolling impossibly into the hole for an eagle 2.

Dougherty celebrated the moment in proper fashion, sharing a chest-bump with his caddie and high-fiving his playing partners before retrieving his shirt in time to fish his ball out of the hole.

The shot came none too soon for Dougherty, who started the final round in a share of 12th but began his round par, bogey, double, bogey before getting to the fifth hole at the Landings Club’s Deer Creek course. That’s where the magic happened.

He played the rest of the round in even par and signed for a two-over 74 that left him T37. We just hope his shirt sponsor wasn’t too upset to be left out of the highlight reel.
