AUGUSTA, Ga. — The final round of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur was suspended Sunday morning due to dangerous weather entering the Augusta, Ga. area. Officials blew the horn at 10:30 a.m. ET and evacuated all players and patrons from the course.
According to weather.com, thunderstorms are expected in the area from 12-2 p.m. ET. The forecast is more favorable after that with the forecast calling for partly cloudy skies and temps in the 70s later in the afternoon.
Rose Zhang, the 36-hole leader, is still out in front at nine under, although her final round has been a struggle thus far. Before the suspension of play, the Stanford sophomore was four over through seven holes, including a double bogey on No. 1. Her lead, which was five to start the day, is now down to three.
Jenny Bae, a fifth-year senior at the University of Georgia, sits in second place at six under, with Andrea Lignell in third at four under. Just five players are under par for the final round, led by Lottie Woad at two under.
