The 2026 Augusta National Women’s Amateur kicks off this week at Champions Retreat Golf Club and Augusta National in Georgia. There, the top women amateurs in the country will battle for the presitigious title. Here’s everything you need to know to watch the 2026 ANWA.
Augusta National Women’s Amateur preview
This year marks the seventh edition of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, which was first contested in 2019. This week 72 elite amateur women golfers will compete across three rounds to determine the champion. In all, 48 of the top 50 players in the Women’s Amateur Golf Rankings are in the field, including World No. 1 Kiara Romero.
Of the 37 returning ANWA competitors in the field, two are past Augusta National Women’s Amateur Champions: Tsubasa Kajitani and Anna Davis. Kajitani won the ANWA in 2021, while Davis took home the title in 2022.
Last year’s winner, Carla Bernat Escuder, is not in the field to defend her 2025 victory. Top American amateur Asterisk Talley, who finished runner-up last year, will be looking to cap her stellar amateur career with an ANWA win.
2026 ANWA format
The 2026 Augusta National Women’s Amateur will be a 54-hole stroke play event. The first two rounds will be played at Champions Retreat Golf Club in Evans, Ga., on Wednesday, April 1, and Thursday, April 2. Then the field will be cut to the top 30 players and ties.
On Friday, all competitors in the field will get to play a practice round at Augusta National, whether or not they made the cut. Finally, on Saturday, April 4, the top 30 players will compete across Augusta National’s historic fairways and greens to determine the 2026 ANWA winner.
