Featured grouping for Valspar Round 1
Five PGA Tour wins. Two major championship victories. One DP World Tour season-long title. Collin Morikawa has accomplished an incredible amount in his short career. But one achievement still eludes him: the No. 1 spot in the Official World Golf Ranking. Despite his stellar record, especially last season, Morikawa’s path to No. 1 has been blocked by Jon Rahm.
But Rahm is taking the week off for the Valspar, which gives Morikawa the perfect opportunity to gain ground or even overcome Rahm as the top-ranked golfer in the world.
Morikawa will tee off for the opening round at 8:24 a.m. ET on Thursday morning, and he’ll play the first round with World No. 3 Viktor Hovland and Abraham Ancer.
