Welcome to Clubhouse Eats and Drinks, where we’ll introduce you to our favorite food and drink at some of the best golf courses, golf resorts and golfy locations around. Cheers!

Hey, ice cold beer here! Now that we have your attention, a few more words about the beer in question. It’s not just any brewskie. It’s a bright, refreshing West Coast-style IPA, available only at an East Coast golf course that’s open to anyone who wants to play it.

The course is 1757 Golf Club, a pristinely conditioned public layout in Dulles, Va., and the beer is called Swing Easy, a craft brew prepared exclusively for the club by Brew Republic Bierwerks, just 30 miles away. We mention the proximity because it matters. Just as locally grown food tastes fresher, so do locally brewed libations, a fact that helps explain the craft-beer boom in big cities and small towns, coast to coast.

In the case of Swing Easy, Bierworks produced a perfect post-round option, an unfiltered, hops-forward, low-alcohol ale with a subtle body, hints of pineapple and a clean, crisp finish that washes down deliciously with clubhouse grub. At 1757 Golf Club, that grub is prepared onsite at Jefferson Tavern, an amiable eatery that slings Wagyu sliders, Tex-Mex nachos, flash-fried calamari and other smartly prepared comfort dishes.

Come to think of it, it sounds like a pretty good pre-round option, too.
