Welcome to a new GOLF.com column, where we’ll highlight one notable item that you might consider buying. Whether it’s an article of clothing, an intriguing electronic device, a piece of equipment designed to increase golf’s enjoyment factor — or anything in between — we want to share these items with you simply because they’ve generated a bit of chatter by our water cooler (or on our Slack channel these days). So sit back, scroll down and keep up with the latest gear golf has to offer.

Music on the course can really enhance the vibe of your round. I don’t always play tunes on the course, but every time I do, I wonder why I don’t.

All too often, my friends or I will forget our portable speakers at home, which is why I’m so excited about Puma’s new PopTop Mini Speaker that clips right to my bag. They collaborated with Speaqua Sound Co. to create the ultimate waterproof speaker set up for buddies golf rounds.

It’s equipped with a bottle opener and a ball marker to keep you prepared out on the course. Even though it’s mini, it packs a punch in the volume department, but won’t be too loud to disturb the group ahead or behind you. If you and your friends have them, you can even pair them up so you don’t miss out on the music if one of you misses the fairway. The battery lasts 5 hours, so it should be long enough for 18 holes — even at your local muni!

Next time you hit the course, throw on one of your favorite playlists (here’s one of mine), and see what you think! If the goal is to have more fun out there, you can’t go wrong with this $40 investment.
