For the last year, Viktor Hovland has been wearing Puma golf shoes without an agreement in place, but on Friday, Puma announced that it had made things official by signing Hovland to a shoe-only endorsement agreement.
The World No. 6 is currently in the hunt at the Masters, hoping to snag the first major championship of his career after winning the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup last year.
“I started wearing Puma shoes because I really liked the style and comfort,” Hovland said in a press release. “Shoes are critical for me because I use my feet to read greens. I’ve worked closely with the Puma team to build shoes that perform well with AimPoint and are very comfortable.”
The model on Hovland’s feet at Augusta National this week is the Puma Ignite Articulate, a shoe packed with technical specs, including strategically placed grooves in the outsole, midsole, and upper to allow the shoe to flex with your foot, a traction pattern featuring “Tornado” cleats, and a strong, lightweight saddle, which delivers support and stability throughout the swing.
