Good morning — actually, more like great morning, because we have PGA Tour playoff golf to enjoy over our coffee and hash browns. The main event: a Scottie Scheffler vs. Viktor Hovland sudden-death duel at 9 a.m. ET to decide the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn.
The golf spilled over from Sunday on account of inclement weather that caused a 83-minute delay in the fourth round. When Scheffler and Hovland, who were playing in the final pairing together, both made par on the 72nd hole, it left them in a deadlock at 21 under for the week, one better than Collin Morikawa. With dwindling light, the playoff was pushed to Monday morning. So, here we are . . . live updates of the action will be coming soon!
In the meantime, check out Josh Schrock’s breakdown of the thrilling fourth round, which included a clutch putt from Scheffler in dying light at the last.
And here’s how to watch the playoff this morning.
That’s a wrap for our morning blog sesh. Thank you all for joining! We’ll have plenty more playoff coverage on Golf.com still to come. So be sure and swing back for insights and analysis. Enjoy your Monday!
Pain. Do think it would have dropped with less pace. Just gassed it.
And the shocker…
Scottie Scheffler had this putt to continue the playoff …

Will be interesting to see Scheffler’s mood with the media. He’s been edgy, even a bit chippy, at times this year. This result will tough one to swallow.
Scheffler now talking with Golf Channel’s Ryan Lavner. Def still a bit shaken and trying to process what happened.
“Putt on 18 hurts a lot,” Scheffler said. “It’s still a little raw right now.”
Much-needed win for Hovland. But this playoff will be remembered for Scheffler’s miss. Incredible, especially after he’d striped his approach. Felt like Scheffler was going to go full Scheffler this morning. That’s the kind of putt, given the stakes, that’s hard to shake from your memory bank.
“I hit it on my line; it was just a little bit firm.” — Scheffler on his pushed birdie try
8th career Tour win for Hovland. How nice – his mother is onsite. First time she’s seen him win on Tour.
Scheffler looked stunned. Hovland looked stunned. Crowd sounds deflated. Wild.
Oh my!! SHOCKER. Scheffler missed on the high side. Just glanced off the edge of cup. Hovland wins.
Hovland drains it! Snuck it in the right side. BIG fist pump. Now Scheffler…zero chance he misses this…
Interesting – the Tour moved the hole location about 6 inches from Sunday because they didn’t like the “integrity” of the previous spot, on account of the wet conditions. Tour official said the players shouldn’t even notice it.
Hovland with a beauty, too. Just outside Scheffler’s. Call it 9 feet. Balls are splatting onto to the green. Soft out there.
Lol, might have spoken to soon. Scheffler just threw dart to 5 feet left of pin.
Feels like this thing could go 6 or 7 holes. Fingers crossed it does.
Hovland hitting first. Splits the fairway on the par-4. Now Scottie, who missed this fairway in three of the four rounds. Not today. Perfect. His and Hovland’s balls are within a few yards of one another. Good start for both.
Getting close here. Telecast just started. Awesome crowd for a Monday morning. Few thousand around the 18th green. Preferred lies in play on the soggy layout.
Was shocked Scheffler left himself an 8-foot comebacker on the 18th green yesterday. Then again, he was never going to miss it. Zero percent chance. Nothing better than watching the great ones do great things.
The protagonists prep plans…
Scheffler: “Go through my normal warm-up. I’ll go home tonight, get some dinner, get some rest, and just go through my normal warm-up when I wake up in the morning, and come out here and get ready to try and execute in a playoff.”
Hovland: “I’m just going to drive back to the hotel, chill for a little bit, and try to get a good night’s rest and then we’re going to be right here in not too long.”
