One of Odyssey’s most popular head shapes (and visual alignments) and a line of Stroke Lab putters designed specifically for women are the latest additions to the equipment manufacturer’s ever-growing roster of flatsticks.
The winged Triple Track Seven mallet ($249.99) is the sixth putter to receive the visual alignment treatment on the crown. Initially created for Callaway’s ERC Soft golf ball — Chrome Soft received the same look as well — the alternating red and blue lines on the crown utilize Verner Hyper Acuity to significantly improve alignment by sending more powerful visual cues when aiming, which leads to enhanced consistency.
The redesigned Microhinge Star insert provides the same White Hot Microhinge roll benefits with an overall firmer feel and sound at impact. According to Luke Williams, Odyssey’s senior director of product and brand management, removing the grooves increases the surface area where the insert contacts the ball.
Odyssey’s multi-material Stroke Lab shaft is the last piece of the design. The shaft saves 40 grams of weight and redistributes it to the head and grip end of the putter, while also working in tandem with the visual Triple Track technology, to improve tempo and overall stroke consistency.
Offered in three head shapes (#1, #7 and 2-Ball), the Stroke Lab Women’s putter line ($249.99) offers the feel and technology found in the current Stroke Lab with a smaller grip and standard length that’s designed to benefit female golfers.
The putter will primarily be available at 33 inches — some models will have a 34-inch option as well — with a Stroke Lab Pistol grip that features a thinner profile. Each putter is outfitted with a White Hot Microhinge insert and Stroke Lab shaft. According to Odyssey, the grip and length were designed “based on extensive player testing to improve putting performance.”
A silver and blue high contrast finish rounds out the putter package and is designed to assist with alignment. Each model in the line retails for $249.99.
