After spending years with Cobra Golf — and helping push them into the world of single-length irons — it appears Bryson DeChambeau’s relationship with the brand has run its course, at least for now.
With the Asian Tour event being held in Saudi Arabia this week, a number of high-profile LIV golfers are teeing it up, including the aforementioned DeChambeau, and with many of them playing professionally for the first time in 2023, we got a look at some big equipment changes.
As it was first reported by Eric Patterson, DeChambeau has a new TaylorMade Stealth 2 in the bag, which was later confirmed to be an 8-degree Plus model by SMS on Tour, the European and Asia Tour’s equipment tracker.
Also, based on other pictures of DeChambeau during play, it looks as if he has gone back to one of his favorite shafts, the ProjectX T1100, which offers one of the stiffest and most stable profiles on the market.
This is another unusual play for DeChambeau, who is also a co-owner of premium graphite shaft manufacturer LA Golf, although we should note he has been a user of their graphite putter shaft for many years.
Cobra’s relationship with DeChambeau had moments of tension, specifically in 2021 when DeChambeau criticized his driver while at the Open Championship.
“The driver SUCKS”

When reached for comment, Cobra reps said that although he was still listed on the Cobra website (as of this report he has since been removed as a sponsored athlete) he is no longer under contract with the equipment manufacturer and talks have been ongoing for a new contract moving forward. Whether an agreement will be reached has yet to be seen, but DeChambeau and his social media presence still carries a lot of influence in the golf world — and we’ll have to wait and see if that is enough to garner a new equipment deal or not.
