Weekly Obsession: Rickie Fowler’s cardigan channeled the King at Bay Hill

The Arnold Palmer Invitational this past weekend felt more like a “Survivor” competition rather than a golf tournament, where the name of the game was outwit, outplay and most importantly outlast. And that’s exactly what Tyrrell Hatton did to secure his first win on Tour and don Arnie’s quintessential red cardigan.

However, among the carnage that made this iteration of Arnie’s tournament both enthralling and hard to watch, there was a bright spot that stole the show during Saturday’s third round: Rickie Fowler’s Arnold Palmer-inspired pink Puma cardigan.

Fowler, who is known for being stylish on and off the course, sported a yet-to-be-released Puma cardigan inspired by Palmer’s classic look. And boy did Rickie pull it off.

Officially launching in June, the PUMA X ARNOLD PALMER collection was designed to honor Palmer’s legacy for years to come. While the collection is technically not available to the public until June, fans attending the API did have the opportunity to pre-order items from the collection.

To create this collection, the Puma product and design teams actually visited Latrobe and Bay Hill to speak with Arnie’s family, friends and business associates and gather inspiration from his life on and off the course. Puma describes the collection as “a modern take on the classic styles Mr. Palmer wore during his career, with added details that tell the story of “A Life Well Played.”

You only need to look at the reactions on social media to see that this collection is going to be a huge hit among fans.

And what’s not to like? The cardigan will come in pink with white piping like the one that Fowler wore during the third round, as well as navy with the same white piping. The collection also features polos, layering pieces, pants, shorts, accessories and footwear all inspired by the King.

What’s more, the cardigan has also been making a comeback recently, with both Tony Finau and Kevin Na wearing navy cardigans during the Tour’s West Coast swing.

So not only is Fowler’s Arnold Palmer-inspired cardigan on trend, it will also elevate your golf style with an unexpected touch of old-school charm. It also serves as a reminder to think outside of the box when it comes to your on-course apparel — there’s more out there than polos and pullovers.

You’ll be able to purchase the complete PUMA X ARNOLD PALMER collection in June. Until then, keep your eye out for more teases of what the collection will include from the pros.
