So you want to tee it up where the pros do, huh? Don’t we all. But some public/resort courses will cost you more than others, and places like TPC Sawgrass’ Stadium Course, the home to this week’s Players Championship — the PGA Tour’s premier event — will make a dent in your wallet.
Along with Pebble Beach, Whistling Straits, Kiawah Island’s Ocean Course and a handful of others, TPC Sawgrass is among the most expensive public tee times around. It’s also, along with Pebble, one of the two most expensive regular Tour stops that Average Joes can play. Although it’s difficult to say which course between Pebble and Sawgrass is more expensive since prices fluctuate and are based off add-ons (caddies, carts, etc.), both will cost at least $500.
TPC Sawgrass has two courses, Dye’s Valley and the Stadium Course, with the latter being the most popular due to its role as Players host and its iconic par-3 17th island green.
So how much are you paying to get on? A round at the Stadium Course varies due to dynamic pricing, but current online rates for the rest of March are $500 on the low end and $720 on the high end. There’s a handful of prices in between, with most around $600. That price would obviously increase, too, if you decide to take a caddie — and it’ll get even more expensive considering how much money you might have to spend on extra golf balls on the Stadium Course’s litany of hazards.
