If you’re in the market for a golf club membership and have $1 million(!) to spare, this new South Florida course may be just what you’re looking for.
Billed as a “last-of-its-kind opportunity” in the Miami region, Shell Bay Club, located in Hallandale Beach, Fla., two miles north of Golden Beaach, boasts a 7,254-yard Greg Norman-designed course nestled within an isolated environment between the Atlantic Ocean and Intracoastal Waterway.
“The course at Shell Bay will be one of the most unique, pure golf experiences I have ever designed,” Norman said in a press release. “Completely isolated from its surroundings, the walkable layout will capture the true essence of the game with immaculately conditioned fairways, sweeping sandbelt-style bunkers and contoured greens that test every club in your bag. It will be a place where you can totally immerse yourself in the game.”
The golf course sits on land that was once occupied by the Diplomat Golf Resort, which is now newly reborn thanks to a reported $220 million redevelopment by Witkoff Group and PPG Development. In addition to the championship course, members can enjoy a 12-acre state-of-the-art- practice facility and nine-hole par-3 course, which features punchbowl, Redan and double-plateau greens.
But what else does cutting a seven-figure initiation check give you access to?
For starters, there’s a racquet center with four Grand Slam tennis surfaces and pickleball courts. Water enthusiasts will be pleased by a 48-slip private marina for direct water access. A private members’ clubhouse includes an indoor/outdoor wellness spa, and a fitness center offers small group programming, open air training, a basketball court, batting cages and more. There is also a selection of elevated event spaces and multiple dining options.
And still to come are the Residences at Shell Bay, a collection of 108 bespoke, Auberge Resorts-managed condominium and penthouse units, which will feature expansive, panoramic views of the course and the Intracoastal Waterway, and will be served by a dedicated team of Auberge Resorts Collection staff. Residents can also enjoy an automatic social membership with their homeownership, while temporary guests can experience Shell Bay via a 60-key boutique resort by Auberge, which is slated to open in 2025.
