The second round of the 2026 Genesis Scottish Open gets underway Friday morning at the Renaissance Club in Scotland. Here’s everything you need to know to watch the tournament on Friday, including full Genesis Scottish Open TV coverage, streaming details and complete Round 2 tee times.

How to watch Genesis Scottish Open on Friday

In his pre-tournament press conference at this week’s Genesis Scottish Open, Brooks Koepka sounded happy and confident in his game.

During Thursday’s opening round, he proved it wasn’t all talk.

Koepka struggled early with two straight bogeys to start his day, but that only made his final score more impressive. After reeling off seven birdies over the final 16 holes, the five-time major winner signed for a four-under 66. That put him one shot behind the early leaders.

But with 54 holes left to play at the Renaissance Club, Koepka will need to maintain his high level of play for a chance at winning his first event since returning to the PGA Tour.

Six months into 2026 and the PGA Tour season is nearly over as we approach the final major of the season next week.

The year has been a great one for equipment, and that’s led to some volatility in the bags of the game’s best players. Some moves have been more consequential than others.

While changes last month like Bryson DeChambeau’s prototype TaylorMade driver and Jordan Spieth’s near putter switch stole headlines, others had lasting impacts — and two even led to major titles.

There’s still plenty of golf left this season, but take a look at some of the biggest gear switches of 2026 so far.

Rory McIlroy dabbles with cavity backs

Rory McIlroy kicked off the year strong by gaming a set of TaylorMade P7CB cavity-back irons both at TGL and his first DP World Tour starts of the season in the Middle East.

Just a month earlier at the Australian Open, McIlroy first forayed into the cavity-back long irons, the first non-blades he’s played in competition, and liked them so much he switched to the rest of the set by the weekend.

That set was still in the bag for his first TGL matches and again at the Dubai Invitational.

“If there’s help to be had, I’ll definitely take it,” McIlroy said after an opening-round 66 in Dubai in early January. “And even in Dubai at the end of last year, I hit a couple of 5-irons that I mis-struck slightly, and instead of it maybe coming up five or seven yards short, it was coming up more like 10 to 15 yards short.”

But while the early results were promising, the new cavity-back irons didn’t stick, and he was back in his custom RORS Protos by his first statestide start at Pebble Beach.

He revealed the rationale didn’t necessarily have anything to do with performance, but rather his familarity with what his blades did versus the cavity backs.

“So whatever way the weight of the head was or whether it was the blade length,” McIlroy said in February, “I’d make swings that I feel like I’d make with my blades that would be a very neutral ball flight, and then with the cavity backs, they would just like start to tail off to the right.

“It made me feel like I could fully release like my iron shots, which is great in theory and great in practice, but then once you get on the course with a card in your hand, for so many years I’m used to feeling that like held-off position through impact, and then to go from that to trying to release it, it just was a different feel, especially under pressure or in the heat of competition,” he said. “Just didn’t feel as familiar as I wanted it to.”

Ultimately, McIlroy was gaming the RORS Protos when he won his second straight Green Jacket in April, but he seemed like he left the door open on using a cavity back iron in the future.

Clark, newly a free agent to begin the year, started playing putter and driver roulette at the beginning of the season, trying five drivers in as many weeks to start the year and then moving on to putters.

It even got to the point where Clark showed up to the Players Championship with a putter he bought at his home club’s pro shop.

But ever since Houston, he’s stuck with Ping’s Scottsdale TEC Ally Blue Onset putter and later moved to a new counterbalanced build of the head. Since then, his putting stats have returned to the all-world level that saw him win three times in nine months, including his first U.S. Open.

Rose had won twice in the past eight months and finished top-3 at the Masters for the second straight year. At 45, Rose could have easily continued on his free agent ways, but instead he’s gone all in with the super car maker’s new venture into golf equipment.

The former World No. 1 debuted a combo set of McLaren’s Series 1 and Series 3 irons that utilize Metal Injection Molding technology at the Cadillac Championship.

“McLaren Golf has been something that’s been on the back burner for a good number of months,” Rose said at his pre-tournament press conference that week, his first comments after the announcement. “Obviously, to launch a brand out of the ground obviously has been going for a lot longer than a year. It’s something I’ve been involved with from the outset, really helping the engineering team, really testing the very first editions of the club. So yeah, I’ve been kind of working with the project for well over a year, probably.”

The 2026 Genesis Scottish Open continues on Friday, July 10, with the second round at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland. You can find full Genesis Scottish Open tee times for Friday’s second round at the bottom of this post.

Genesis Scottish Open tee times: What to know

Sure, Rory McIlroy is using this week’s Scottish Open to prep for next week’s Open Championship, the final major of the year.

But that doesn’t mean the six-time major champion isn’t trying to win his second career title here at the Renaissance Club. Need proof? Just look at his results from Thursday’s opening round.

Though he got off to a crooked start with a bogey at 10, his first hole of the day, McIlroy rallied in Round 1 to make an eagle and five birdies, including two straight to close out his round. That left him with a five-under 65 and a share of the early lead.

Now the fan favorite and World No. 2 will try to maintain his good form in Friday’s second round.

Despite an erroneous WD scare, Brooks Koepka is in the field at this week’s 2026 Genesis Scottish Open. And based on his pre-tournament press conference at the Renaissance Club, he couldn’t be happier about it.

This week’s event is the 14th start of Koepka’s surprise PGA Tour return following years playing on LIV Golf.

While his comeback hasn’t been completely smooth, the five-time major champion is feeling better than his results so far have shown, both on and off the golf course.

On Wednesday, an open and talkative Koepka revealed what he’s most pleased about so far in his PGA Tour return, while also naming the thing that’s disappointed him most.

Koepka says PGA Tour return has brought him ‘happiness’

When news broke in January that Koepka was rejoining the PGA Tour via the Returning Member Program, it shocked the golf world.

But it wasn’t a surprise to Koepka and his wife, Jena. As Koepka revealed at the Scottish Open, they had been working on his comeback, and keeping their plans secret, for a while.

Koepka admitted it wasn’t “the easiest thing” to keep such a monumental career and life change under wraps. But the relief Koepka experienced when his Tour return became a reality, and the happiness that has followed, are the things he’s most pleased with regarding his comeback.

“What have I been most pleased with? I think — yeah, I think I’ve been most pleased with — this is probably going to come across a little selfish, but just the happiness that I have,” Koepka revealed to reporters on Wednesday. “Maybe a weight lifted off my shoulders, or it’s not — kept it a secret for a little while. So it’s not the easiest thing.”

His play on the course — including four missed cuts and only one top 10 — is not the source of his newfound satisfaction. Instead, it’s Koepka’s wife and son — and the ability to spend more time with them on the PGA Tour compared to LIV — that has brought him “happiness.”

“But I just see the happiness. I look at I’m able to be around my son a lot more. Jena is able to be around and they are able to travel to a lot more events. Things like that, that stuff brings me happiness,” Koepka explained. “Whether I play good or whether I play bad, I walk off the 18th green, my wife and son are standing right there and, it’s cool, no matter — my son doesn’t care if I shoot 80 or 65, he doesn’t know the difference. It’s ‘Da-Da’; he goes that way and runs towards me. That’s cool. Having them around has been amazing and takes a little bit of the pressure away from when you’re playing.”

As for the thing he’s least pleased with since returning to the PGA Tour, Koepka quipped “my putting,” before admitting that his game along with his life are turning around after feeling like he couldn’t “catch a break” on or off the course during his last season with LIV Golf.

“I feel like last year I wasn’t in the head space to actually play good golf, and now that everything is kind of cleared up and I’m in a better — we all have that, right? It’s life,” Koepka said. “Sometimes it’s easy and sometimes it’s difficult. There’s a lot of stuff, like I said, off the golf course, on the golf course, didn’t matter. Didn’t feel like I could catch a break, as a player, as a person, as a family. Yeah.”

That happiness served him well in Thursday’s opening round at the Renaissance Club, where Koepka fired a four-under 66 to get near the top of the leaderboard early at the Scottish Open.

Koepka mum on LIV pros returning to PGA Tour

While Koepka was long-winded when talking about himself, he had few words to spare when the topic of LIV Golf came up.

Some LIV Golf pros are permitted to play this week’s Genesis Scottish Open due to the fact that it’s co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and PGA Tour.

Tyrrell Hatton and Jon Rahm, the latter of whom just settled a dispute with the DP World Tour, have taken up the rare opportunity to win a PGA Tour-sanctioned event as current LIV players.

When asked whether his former LIV tour mates being allowed to tee it up was a sign of pro golf’s future reunification, Koepka said simply, “I’m not a part of those conversations, so I don’t know.”

He was then pressed if he’d like to see a “return to normality” in pro golf, and he again refused to supply an opinion, instead saying that he was “more focused” on himself.

“I don’t have an opinion either way. I’m more focused on myself. I think that’s the one thing I think I’ve learned through all of this is if I can just focus on myself and be the best golfer, best father, husband, whatever, I’m doing more than I want to do right now, and being present with them and play good golf,” Koepka said. “I feel like that’s all that matters to me. What happens to everybody else, I’m not so concerned with.”

Rory McIlroy is hoping this week at the Genesis Scottish Open sees him capture yet another victory, while also helping him prep for next week’s Open Championship at Royal Birkdale.

McIlroy has only one win on the season so far, but it was a big one. He won his second straight Masters title at Augusta National in April, pushing his career total to six. Before he tries to add a seventh major win and second Open title next week, the World No. 2 is hoping to add a second Scottish Open trophy to his trophy case.

While he’s only played nine PGA Tour events in 2026, he has two other top-10 finishes to go along with his Masters victory.

But with the tournament being played in Scotland, you’ll need to wake up really early to watch McIlroy in action on Thursday.

It was a good week for the column, certainly making for a few fireworks over the Fourth of July holiday — despite managing to find yet another way to narrowly miss out on the outright winner.

We had a number of long shots fare quite nicely at the John Deere Classic. Ben Kohles (80-1), Ryo Hisatsune (50-1), Kevin Yu (80-1) and Tyler Duncan (500-1) each made a lot of noise, but ultimately it was Chris Gotterup winning for the third time on Tour this season. And that makes for a very clean transition to this week as we make our way abroad to North Berwick, Scotland, for the Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club — where Gotterup is your defending champion.

The Scottish Open is a co-sanctioned event between the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour, and each tour roughly has 75 players in the field. A twist this year is that there are LIV circuit players participating via DP World Tour status. Jon Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton, Patrick Reed, David Puig, Victor Perez and Tom McKibben will join in on the festivities in what will be the final prep before next week’s Open Championship, the final major of the season, at Royal Birkdale in England.

Tom Doak designed the Renaissance Club in 2008. It is definitely links style but is more of a manufactured, Americanized links design. The course was carved out of a pine forest, which is unique, but it still maintains the sandy, dunes, windswept links look in which we are familiar. The Renaissance Club will serve as the host course for this tournament for the eighth year in a row. It is a par-70 with three par-5s, five par-3s, and 10 par-4s. The golf course tips out at just a shade under 7,300 yards. The greens are slow and fescue-based just like we typically see at an Open Championship. They are large surfaces and relatively easy to hit in regulation. The fairways are on the wider side but present nasty pot bunkers and are bordered by thick rough.

I do believe that distance outweighs accuracy here off the tee — to a degree — so I have looked at Strokes Gained: Off the Tee, along with Stroked Gained: Approach, Strokes Gained: Around the Green, Birdies or Better Gained, and hole proximity from 200-plus yards.

The subject of correlated courses is a challenge this week because we do not see a links-type test on a regular basis. Courses requiring similar strengths and sharing some layout commonalities are the Country Club at Jackson (Sanderson Farms Championship); Torrey Pines (Farmers Insurance Open); Memorial Park (Houston Open), which is another Tom Doak design; and Vidanta Vallarta, home to the Mexico Open.

Ludvig Aberg (22-1)

Maybe Aberg’s greatest strength is his ability to drive the ball long and straight. This propelled him to victory at Torrey Pines and has helped him finish eighth and fourth here in North Berwick. Over the past 24 rounds, Aberg ranks 11th n this field for SG: Off the Tee, 14th for SG: Approach, and eighth in hole proximity from 200-plus yards.

Nicolai Hojgaard (45-1)

Similar to Aberg, Hojgaard has finished runner-up at Torrey Pines and fourth and sixth here at the Scottish Open — and his game too is largely fueled by excellent work off the tee. The short game fires as well as he ranks 55th on Tour in scrambling and is 51st for SG: Putting.

Kristoffer Reitan (53-1)

The European theme continues — and why not a Norwegian? We have seen their fans celebrate Viktor Hovland recently at the Travelers Championship, and we have seen their football club knock Brazil out of the World Cup. Reitan is becoming a force, winning a Signature Event back in May at Quail Hollow Club, a big boy golf course, similar to Torrey Pines. He was 13th here in Scotland last season, shooting three of four rounds in the 60s. Reitan ranks seventh in this field for SG: Off the Tee over the past 24-rounds, 16th for SG: Approach and 15th in birdies or better percentage.

Kevin Yu (225-1)

As mentioned earlier, Yu fared quite well last week at the John Deere Classic, finishing 15th and shooting 66 on three of the four days. He won for us a few years back at the Sanderson Farms Championship and he was 34th here at the Scottish Open last year. Over the past 24 rounds, Yu ranks 14th in this field for SG: Off the Tee and is fifth for birdie or better percentage. At the Deere last week, Yu ranked 20th in that field for SG: Putting. He will be in the mix again this week if the putter stays hot.

For years, McIlroy has sung the praises of golf’s National Opens, making a genuine attempt to raise their profiles by playing the tournaments himself.

Along with the U.S. Open and the (British) Open, the six-time major champion has been a fixture at the Scottish Open and the RBC Canadian Open (until this year). Last season, he won the Irish Open in September and competed in the Australian Open in December.

McIlroy, however, is also the biggest star in the modern PGA Tour, and his love for National Opens and loyalty to the PGA Tour could come in direct conflict soon.

That’s because the PGA Tour is overhauling its tournament structure. Beginning in 2028, the Tour will divide itself into a Championship Series, for the top 130 or so pros, and a Challenger Series, for everyone else.

A key tenet of the new structure is that the Championship Series will be closed: no one can move in or drop out of it within a season. Conversely, National Opens by nature are open: pros have multiple avenues to play their way in. Furthermore, the Scottish Open is co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour.

One big question arises from those two realities: how do National Opens like this week’s Scottish Open fit into the new PGA Tour schedule, if at all?

On Wednesday, Rory was pondering that question, too.

McIlroy praises National Opens in light of new PGA Tour structure

During his pre-tournament press conference at the Genesis Scottish Open on Wednesday, McIlroy argued the decision by the PGA Tour to co-sanction the Scottish Open has raised its profile and improved the event significantly.

“Yeah, so I think since this event has been co-sanctioned, it really has went from strength-to-strength,” McIlroy told reporters at the Renaissance Club. “You look at the quality of the field this week, you get a great sponsor like Genesis on board. They have kept making improvements to the golf course and the facilities each and every year.”

McIlroy went on to praise “strong National Opens” as a “blueprint” for the future. He even suggested the two tours should co-sanction a second National Open on the current PGA Tour schedule: the Canadian Open.

“So I think for like these strong National Opens, this, to me, is the blueprint of what it can be and what can happen,” McIlroy argued on Wednesday. “Yeah, I think it’s a perfect lead-in to the Open Championship. You know, I’ve thought could the Canadian Open become co-sanctioned, as well, leading into the U.S. Open as well. That could be interesting, as well, trying to build out this series of National Opens that have a bit more meaning behind them.”

But a project to “build out this series of National Opens,” as McIlroy suggested, could be very difficult come 2028 when the new-look PGA Tour debuts.

“Yeah, I don’t know how that fits into the Track 1 and Track 2 and all that stuff. But I see this event and I see how well it’s done over these past few years, and I definitely I feel like it’s the blueprint for a lot of the other National Opens.”

McIlroy’s warning about new PGA Tour schedule: ‘These events need to be treated differently’

The threat the new Tour schedule poses to the National Opens McIlroy loves seemed to become apparent to him during his press conference on Wednesday. McIlroy warned that changing these events to fit into the new schedule could mess with the “fabric” of the National Opens.

“We’ve got to be careful with that because then these National Opens lose the fabric of what they are, right,” McIlroy warned. “You can’t call yourself a National Open anymore if it’s a closed off tournament and there’s a certain number of guys.”

The closed, limited-field makeup of the PGA Tour’s future Championship Series is one way it could conflict with National Opens. The other is the number of events envisioned for the Tour’s top circuit.

PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp announced that PGA Tour’s top tier will feature around 20 tournaments. The 2026 PGA Tour schedule features over 40 tournaments. So events like the Canadian Open and Scottish Open could hypothetically get left out of the Championship Series altogether.

If that happens, they could still be a part of the Challenger Series, but that would mean top players like McIlroy wouldn’t be in the field, which would drastically devalue these long-running events.

Challenger Series events will also feature purses of $4 million, far lower than the $20 million Championship Series purses, and less than half of this year’s Scottish Open purse of $9 million.

That all led McIlroy to call for the National Opens to be “treated differently” than other PGA Tour events within the new schedule.

“I think these events need to be treated differently than, you know, the Travelers Championship or RBC Heritage or whatever else that are going to be in the Champions Series,” McIlroy said, referring to the PGA Tour’s future top tier. “These tournaments need to have — there’s a little bit more nuance with these tournaments for sure.”

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler similarly sang the Scottish Open’s praises on Wednesday and expressed his hope that it will make the cut for the Championship Series.

“I think it needs to work within the new schedule that they are setting up,” Scheffler told reporters. “This is a tournament I think, like you see, the field is great. I think it’s an important one that we keep in the Championship Series just because you get so many guys that come over here and play the week before.”

“Personally, I believe it’s a great way to get ready for the Open Championship. It’s a great golf course, and the people here are great and they do a really good job of taking care of us at this tournament. I’m hoping that it can fit in the right way.”

Scheffler also touched on another key feature of the new PGA Tour schedule: getting all the best players to play all the same tournaments.

“One of the things that’s important in our new schedule is getting the same, golf is so difficult to rank players when they are not playing together all the time. That was something we ran into a lot during junior golf and amateur golf is it’s very tough to rank who played better when you are not playing against each other each week,” Scheffler argued. “Having similar guys playing against each other on great golf courses week-in and week-out I think is the best way to set up our schedule. To have this tournament fit into that mold would be really nice.”

But one thing that wasn’t asked of either McIlroy or Scheffler was how either pro would fit the new PGA Tour schedule into their lives, with or without the National Opens.

Players qualified for the Championship Series will presumably be expected to play all 20 events. That does not include the four major championships. When the majors are included, top players will be faced with a packed schedule of 24 tournaments.

That could be an issue for the modern-day McIlroy. Heading into the Scottish Open, McIlroy has only played nine PGA Tour-sanctioned events in 2026, and that includes the first three majors. Take those out, and he’s only competed in six PGA Tour events this year.

Scheffler has played 11 non-major PGA Tour events this season.

Genesis Scottish Open tee times: What to know

Scottie Scheffler has accomplished a lot this season. He won in his very first start, capturing his 20th PGA Tour victory at the American Express in February. That was the first of an impressive nine top-5 finishes Scheffler has earned in only 14 starts this year, easily putting him in first in the FedEx Cup standings.

But so far Scheffler has failed to do two things he achieved in the past two seasons: win multiple PGA Tour events and win a major.

Over the next two weeks, the World No. 1 can change that. First, he’s teeing it up in the Genesis Scottish Open, where he’ll hunt for his second Tour win of the year and 21st overall. Then next week he heads to Royal Birkdale to try and defend his title and capture his fifth major win at the Open Championship.

NORTH BERWICK, Scotland — This week’s Scottish Open will be different, we can promise you that. For starters, LIV golfers Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton are playing. That’s different. Former LIV player Brooks Koepka is competing as a sponsor’s exemption … out of necessity … on the DP World Tour half of the field. That’s different. And yet, one piece of newness simmers in the background, made with fans in mind.

The holes at Renaissance Club have been shifted around. And in a not-so-subtle way aimed at creating the most compelling product possible from an unchanged golf course.

Normally, a rerouting of holes may not do much for excitement, particularly for the American crowd across the Atlantic Ocean. Often a rerouting is made out of necessity for a course renovation. But this one is simply to maximize the setting for fans on-site and construe the most excitement for a TV audience.

In short, a majority of the old back nine at Renaissance — holes 10 thru 16 — will now play as holes 1 thru 7, while holes 1 thru 7 at Renaissance will now operate as holes 10 thru 16. To the Renaissance newbie, that won’t mean much. But to players in the field, it means a final stretch of six holes with zero par-5s, which Rahm was quick to point out Tuesday morning.

“Haven’t given me a reason yet as to why they changed it,” Rahm said, before doing the tournament’s bidding.

“Also think it’s quite a thrilling finish,” Rahm continued. “Obviously you don’t have the par-5 on 16, that gave quite a bit away, but with the right wind you have a possibly reachable par-4, a very tricky short par-3, a long par-4, and then 17 and 18. I still think it gives it a good variety and a very exciting finish. I think it could be a really good change.”

He’s not alone. Viktor Hovland was next on stage Tuesday and said he really liked it, and expected it to contribute to a more-exciting finish than the Renaissance of old.

The previous 16th hole was a downhill par-5 that offered players a bit of a “Get Out Of Jail Free” card late in their back nine. Here’s an easy birdie in the heat of contention. Now that gettable hole arrives well before players make the turn, and the holes spent in contention suddenly aggregate into a wicked route to the clubhouse.

The new 14th is a drivable par-4 with the right wind, as Rahm said. But if that hole plays downwind, the next hole — a short, tasty par-3 — reveals itself at No. 15, surrounded by bunkers and, now, also encircled by stadium seating. The event has increased the buildout around this hole in years past —adding grandstands, viewing platforms and what amounted to an outdoor food court — but it was always played as the 6th, much too early in the weekend rounds to hold significance. Now, it’ll be where pros hold on for dear life, make a run or stumble when they can least afford it.

After the 15th comes a long par-4 — which plays as a par-5 for members of the exclusive club — followed by another difficult par-3 (203 yards) and finishing par-4 (483 yards) that often plays into the wind. Rory McIlroy birdied both finishing holes when he came back to win in 2023, a herculean feat considering it took him driver, 2-iron to reach the 18th green.

And despite McIlroy’s heroics from three years ago, there will be bogeys down the stretch. You can count on it. But more than anything, spectators will be wooed into hanging around the clubhouse with this new finishing stretch. The routing’s proximity to the clubhouse and grandstands should create a more electric scene come Sunday, and should increase the chances of capturing an epic crowd reaction, too, which can seem muted on TV during those windy links days of a Scottish summer.

All of it outlines a creative strategy that one event is taking to make itself 1, 2 or 3% better each season. Now all organizers need are the best golfers to show up and do their thing.
