Subpar Podcast hosts Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz recently engaged in a bit of role-reversal, when they headed out to Scottsdale’s Whisper Rock Golf Club for Subpar’s Caddie Showdown, presented by Ogio. On tap: carrying the bags for two of the PGA Tour’s most recognizable caddies: Tom Kim’s bagman Joe Skovron, and Max Homa’s man, Joe Greiner.

Stoltz partnered with Skovron while Knost went with Greiner. Justin Thomas’ caddie Jim “Bones” Mackay was also on-hand to call the action.

There’s never a dull moment at Whisper Rock, as evidenced by the action on the first tee. Before Greiner even teed off, former NFL superstar Larry Fitzgerald passed by, deep in his own round on the hole behind the tee.

Then, it was down to business, with Skovron and Greiner in gamer mode.

As the group made their way down the first fairway, Knost said he was impressed with the Ogio Shadow bags they were shouldering for the occasion.

“Doesn’t even feel like I’m carrying anything,” Knost said. “Normally I’m worried about my hip. It’s got a perforated hip pad. Comfy as can be.”

“Colt, you are gliding down the fairway,” Greiner said.

Ogio has been making top-notch luggage, backpacks, golf bags, and other items for some time, but now, under the ownership of Callaway, the brand is undergoing a “refresh,” and two new golf bags are part of that refresh.

According to Harry Arnett, Ogio president and Callaway SVP of global marketing, the change represents an “evolution from a veteran to an industry-leading global brand known for the highest quality performance bags in the world.”

“Innovation is the driving force of everything we do,” said Arnett. “Change is obviously critical for any brand, especially one that has been around for 30 years like we have. The products we are launching represent the very best in design, quality, and performance. It’s an exciting step forward for our company and we know current fans and potential new fans of Ogio will love the new direction”

Two new golf bag models that nicely represent Ogio’s new direction are the Alpha Convoy 514 cart bag ($300) and the Shadow Fuse 304 stand bag ($250).

The Convoy is aimed at cart golfers and is made from durable Cordura EcoMade material, which is Cordura’s most sustainable material made in part from recycled plastic bottles. Other features include a 14-way top with extra large putter well, customizable Ogio MOD webbing, 2 mesh stash pockets, insulated water bottle and cooler pockets with drainage ports, internal fleece lined valuables pocket, and umbrella holder. The overall weight of the new Alpha Convoy 514 is approximately 6.4 lbs.
