The 2022 Zozo Championship gets underway this week in Japan, and according to the Zozo Championship betting odds via BetMGM, American star Xander Schauffele is the narrow betting favorite. Here’s what you need to know.

2022 Zozo Championship odds: This week’s favorites

Xander Schauffele captured two wins on the PGA Tour last season at the Travelers Championship and Scottish Open (in addition to a team win at the Zurich Classic), finishing the Tour Championship in 4th place. Now he’s set to start his 2022-23 season at the Zozo, and he’ll do so as the betting favorite at +800 to win.

But plenty of players in the top 10 in odds to win should give Schauffele a run for his money. Hideki Matsuyama is one of them. The Japanese superstar is the defending champion this week, having won the Zozo in its return to Japan last fall. He’s tied for third in odds to win with Collin Morikawa at +1400.

Another name to look out for is 20-year-old rising superstar Tom Kim (+1400). Kim’s fame grew to new heights at the Presidents Cup, and he rode that momentum to his second PGA Tour victory at last week’s Shriners Children’s Open.

2022 Zozo Championship odds: Long shot of the week

Our chosen long shot for this week’s event in Japan is 30-year-old Chad Ramey. Ramey is far from a household name, but there a couple good reasons he should be on any long-shot short list this week.

Ramey played his first full year on the PGA Tour last year, and things went swimmingly. Not only did he qualify for the FedEx Cup Playoffs, but he also captured his first PGA Tour victory at the Corales Puntacana Championship in March. Furthermore, he put up a solid performance at last week’s Shriners with four rounds in the 60s and a T28 finish.

This week he has extremely long odds to win set at +25000, and for any recent Tour winner, those odds are too long. Should he pull off a victory, you could turn a $10 bet into $2,500.
