Another U.S. Open is heading to historic Winged Foot. The USGA announced on Monday that the West Course at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y., has been awarded the 2028 U.S. Open.

The 2028 U.S. Open will be the seventh held at Winged Foot and first since Bryson DeChambeau won the 2020 national championship there, which took place without fans on site due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Winged Foot has provided the backdrop for some of the most dramatic moments in the history of our sport, with many of golf’s legendary champions being crowned on the club’s iconic West Course,” said John Bodenhamer, USGA chief championships officer. “We strive to provide players with the greatest stages on which to compete for a national championship, and there are few stages as grand as Winged Foot.”

Winged Foot has two courses, the East and the West, which were both designed by A.W. Tillinghast and opened in 1923. Gil Hanse renovated and restored the West course in 2018.

The USGA now has its next eight U.S. Open sites scheduled, along with many other future venues announced as well.
