Will Zalatoris has made a boatload of incredible shots so far in his young career in pro golf. But the 2021 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year will have a tough time topping his first-ever hole in one, which came at the ridiculously young age of 8 years old. Matching that fateful shot, however, is another story.
The PGA Tour recently tasked Zalatoris with trying to do just that, recreate the ace that left an elementary-age school Zalatoris crying — and his dad falling out of his chair at work — and the resulting video is a must-watch.
Zalatoris set out for Mariners Point Golf Center in Foster City, Calif., and set up on the tee at the short par-3 2nd, the very hole where he hit the shot of his life. Not only that, but Zalatoris brought along with him the exact club he used 17 years ago, lifted from whatever special place that its been resting all these years, to add an extra nostalgic twist to the challenge.
Spoiler alert: he does it, eventually sinking a repeat ace and topping it off with a call to mom. But you’ll have to watch the video yourself to see how many shots it took, and to hear the hilarious play-by-play details of his inaugural ace, tears and all. Check it out below.
