WATCH: Patrick Reed showered in beer after ace on raucous LIV hole

Patrick Reed wasted little time emptying fans’ drinks on one of LIV Golf’s most raucous holes. Reed, the 2018 Masters champion, aced the par-3 12th at Grange Golf Club 15 minutes into the first round of LIV Golf Adelaide on Friday.

The 12th, dubbed the Watering Hole, has grandstands built up and around it to provide LIV’s version of the par-3 16th at the WM Phoenix Open, where Emiliano Grillo made an ace last week (and caused a similar celebration).

Reed used an 8-iron, landed his ball short of the pin and watched it track toward the hole. A party ensued, as Reed and fellow players and caddies celebrated as fans showered them with beer and plastic drink cups.

“I figured why not go ahead and hit a great golf shot considering the first two shots I hit to start the day weren’t very good,” Reed said. “Right when I hit it, I knew it was going to be really good. Did I know it was going to go in? No. I guess I just started the party really early for everybody.”

It’s the second time an ace was made on this hole during a LIV Golf event, following the one Chase Koepka made in 2023.

“I was just pumped up with adrenaline when that thing went in,” said Reed, who signed for a three-over 75. “I saw cups and beers and liquid flying everywhere. I guarantee you my golf bag looked a little sticky when I was walking off the golf course. That’s what we kind of expected. If somebody makes a hole-in-one on a hole like that, you expect just craziness and chaos, and it was.”
