Watch One of the Worst Lip Outs You’ll Ever See

October 15, 2015

Every stroke counts the same on a scorecard. Even those that are only for inch-long putts.

On the par-5 12th at the Portugal Masters, Alvaro Quiros had a tap-in for par after running a birdie try about a foot past. He struck the putt, and as he was reaching down to pull the ball from the hole, it struck the back lining of the cup and hopped out.

“I’m not sure I’ve ever seen that before,” the commentator remarked.

He would make the 1-inch putt for bogey.

Quiros did shake off his misfortune after he completed his opening round with a 4-under 67, good enough for 14th place entering Friday.
