New Orleans isn’t the only Tour locale that has suffered the effects of severe weather over the past few days. The PGA Tour Latinoamerica is in Cordoba, Argentina, for the 88 Abierto OSDE del Centro presentado por FiberCorp-Telecom, where heavy rains have been falling throughout the week.
While rain and delays are a frequent occurrence on the world’s professional Tours, this particular storm led to a scary moment for players on the 11th tee during the second round on Friday. Check out the video posted below.
“With all the rain this week, a tree fell onto the power lines by the 10th green, causing a small fire and a big explosion at 10:10 am,” the PGA Tour Latinoamerica’s post says. “Fortunately, nobody was hurt. It was a scary moment for the players who were about to tee off on No. 11. There’s no power at the club right now and local authorities are working on cleaning the area and getting the lines back up. Play has not been affected by this.”
The PGA Tour Latinoamerica is one of the PGA Tour’s developmental Tours, along with the Mackenzie Tour in Canada and PGA Tour China. The Latinoamerica Tour was established in 2012, and offers Web.com Tour status to the top five players in its order of merit each year, which can then lead to status on the PGA Tour. Jose de Jesus Rodriguez is a notable graduate of the Tour, having topped the order of merit in 2017. He’s now playing his first PGA Tour season.
