Jazz Janewattananond’s ball, sitting inside a left greenside bunker on the par-3 11th at Royal St. George’s, was hit to within about 2 feet on Saturday, and it would be tapped in for par during the third round of the Open Championship.

Truly. Janewattananond had hit his tee shot about 2 feet from the 3-foot-tall bunker wall, which limited his ability to stand in the bunker and take a swing. Kneeling above it would give him more room. Of course, golf, at least as we’ve reported on this website, is typically played standing up.
Tradition and Janewattananond took a seat. He took a few light practice swings and hit. The bad: Since he was now only about 4 feet tall, sand that may have blown into just his body flew into his face. The good: He was set up for an easy 3.
