The largest purse in women’s golf just got a little bit bigger.

The USGA announced on Thursday that the U.S. Women’s Open purse for 2024 will be $12 million. This is up $1 million from the purse awarded last summer at Pebble Beach, and more than double than the prize fund just three years ago ($5.5 million).

The purse is now the biggest in all of women’s golf.

In addition to the elevated purse, the USGA unveiled their new business partnership with Ally, a financial services company with an established footprint in women’s sports. As a part of the partnership, Ally will be the presenting sponsor of the U.S. Women’s Open, the official retail banking partner of the USGA and a founding partner for the U.S. National Development Program.

“Partnering with Ally allows us to not only continue elevating the U.S. Women’s Open, but to also further our commitment to the future of the game via our U.S. National Development Program,” said USGA CEO Mike Whan. “Ally has established itself as a force in sports, with a passion for equity across the industry. Its brand values and actions align perfectly with ours, and I can’t wait to see what we are able to do together.”

Ally also announced the signing of world No. 1 Lilia Vu to its roster of brand ambassadors. Vu won four times in 2023, including two major titles, on her way to LPGA Tour Player of the Year honors.

“I’m proud to be partnering with Ally,” Vu said. “Their commitment to advancing equity in women’s sports is unprecedented, and I look forward to working with their team and my fellow brand ambassadors to create change while encouraging others to do the same.”

This summer’s U.S. Women’s Open will be played at Lancaster Country Club in Lancaster, Pa. The championship was previously played at LCC in 2015 as In Gee Chun won the first of her three major championships.
