It’s major championship time again. For just the second time this year, the best men’s golfers in the world will compete for history. This time, it’s the 2020 U.S. Open at Winged Foot Golf Club in New York. Here’s everything you need to know to watch the first round.

Previewing U.S. Open Round 1

There are too many quality storylines to count heading into the first round at Winged Foot. Will the course setup frustrate pros, sending scores soaring? Will World No. 1 Dustin Johnson cement himself as the best in the game? Can Phil Mickelson avenge his 2006 collapse at Winged Foot and finally win a U.S. Open? Can Tiger Woods capture major No. 16?

We’ll start to get answers to all of those questions and more during Thursday’s opening round, and plenty of big names are getting an early start. Woods starts off the 1st tee at 8:07 a.m. ET alongside Collin Morikawa and Justin Thomas. At the same time, Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott and Justin Rose will begin on the 10th. Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed will get started even earlier, at 7:56 a.m. ET, with Hideki Matsuyama.

You’ll have to wait until the afternoon to see other stars, like Johnson, Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau and Rickie Fowler, to name a few. How to watch U.S. Open Round 1 on TV

The TV coverage for the opening round of the U.S. Open on Thursday will be split between NBC and Golf Channel. Golf Channel will start things off with six and a half hours of coverage from 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m. ET. NBC will follow that with a three-hour broadcast from 2-5 p.m. ET

How to watch U.S. Open Round 1 online

For the first time, the final two hours of the first round at Winged Foot will be available exclusively on NBCUniversal’s new streaming service, Peacock. This streaming coverage will be offered for free to all viewers, as long as you sign up for a free Peacock account, which you can do here.

In addition, the USGA will provide Featured Group and Featured Hole coverage all day Thursday on usopen.com, the U.S. Open app and the U.S. Open streaming app. In addition, you can watch U.S. Open 360, which will include player interviews, live-streams from the practice areas and more.
