OAKMONT, Pa. — The final round of the 2025 U.S. Open has been suspended due to dangerous weather, with the horn blowing at 4:01 p.m. ET at Oakmont Country Club on Sunday.

Oakmont was soggy when players arrived early this week, and more rain came on Friday night and Saturday. Rain was expected on Sunday afternoon, although the radar was spotty and officials were unclear how much would hit the course.

It started to rain around 3:45 p.m. Sunday when the leaders were on the 6th hole, but 15 minutes later the rain picked up and spectators scrambled for cover. Several greens had standing water.

“We are going to have to figure out what the rest of the afternoon looks like,” said Craig Winter, the USGA’s senior director of the Rules of Golf, on the NBC broadcast. “That came on pretty quickly, as you can see both greens [shown on TV] being unplayable. There’s actually electricity that came into some of those. It is a dangerous stoppage; players will be taken to [the evacuation area] and likely brought back in.”

It’s likely play resumes on Sunday, although if the delay is too long it could be difficult for the tournament to conclude on Sunday night.

When play resumes, the final pairing of Sam Burns and Adam Scott will hit their tee shots on the par-3 8th hole.

Burns, the 54-hole leader, is still leading at two under, with Scott at one under. Tyrrell Hatton and Viktor Hovland, both one over through eight holes, are tied for third.
