PGA Championship 2019 Viewer’s Guide: Tee times, TV schedule, streaming, how to watch

The 2019 PGA Championship is set to get underway in May instead of August for the first time ever this week, as the tournament will be played on the Black Course at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, N.Y. for the first time ever as well.

Now the second major of the golf season, the PGA Championship comes just one month after the Masters on the calendar. And the field is absolutely loaded as you would expect it to be.

That starts and ends with Tiger Woods, who is coming off his 15th major victory at Augusta National in April. He has four PGA Championship titles on his resume, which is the most of any active golfer. A win this week at Bethpage Black would put Tiger alongside Jack Nicklaus and Walter Hagen with the most PGA Championship victories at five. Not to mention, it would move Tiger within two major titles of the Golden Bear.

The only major that Tiger has won more than the PGA Championship is the Masters, which he would tie for the most in his career with a victory this week on Long Island. The good thing for the 81-time PGA Tour winner? He’s played well at Bethpage.

Tiger captured the U.S. Open, his second of three U.S. Open titles and eighth overall major win, when it was played at Bethpage Black in 2002. He was the only golfer who finished the tournament under par. Tiger also earned a T6 result at the 2009 U.S. Open at Bethpage.

Tiger Woods is looking for his 16th major title this week.

Tiger finished second at last year’s PGA Championship to Brooks Koepka, who is looking to become the first back-to-back winner of the PGA Championship since Tiger himself in 2006 and 2007. The three-time major winner, who has won the last two U.S. Open titles, then finished second to Tiger at the Masters last month.

Koepka, who will be looking to capture his fourth major title in three years this week, will have the pleasure of playing alongside Tiger in the first two rounds of the tournament. A victory for Koepka would put him in a class of 19 golfers who have won the PGA Championship on multiple occasions.

Woods and Koepka, as well as Francesco Molinari, will begin their first round at 8:24 a.m ET from the 10th tee on Thursday morning. The last three major champions will tee off their second round at 1:49 p.m ET on Friday afternoon from the first hole.
