The first PGA Tour event of the year, the 2021 Sentry Tournament of Champions, is already at the halfway point. Here’s what you need to know to watch the third round on Saturday.

Previewing Tournament of Champions Round 3

Justin Thomas — a two-time winner of the Sentry Tournament of Champions — got off to a hot start on Thursday, and shared the first-round lead with Harris English after firing an opening 65. But Thomas’ second-round 69 (4-under) couldn’t keep pace with Harris, who fired a 6-under 67. Now Thomas — and the rest of the Sentry field — trails Harris’ lead by two shots heading into Saturday’s third round.

The leaderboard is tightly packed, with 15 players within four shots of Harris’ lead, including reigning PGA champion Collin Morikawa, Xander Schauffele, Jon Rahm, Patrick Reed and Bryson DeChambeau.

Also in contention: Dustin Johnson, who was the betting favorite heading into the week. Johnson faced a six-shot deficit to Harris on Thursday after firing an opening round of 2-under 71, but bounced back on Friday, tying the low round of the week with a 65, and launching himself 20 spots up the leaderboard into T10, now only four shots back.

One thing’s for sure: it’s going to be an exciting weekend in paradise.
