‘Let’s go play’: Tiger concedes putt to Phil on 18, sends The Match to extra holes

Tiger Woods is known to be ruthless down the stretch of golf tournaments, but he was uniquely generous on the 18th hole of The Match on Friday.

Woods and his opponent, Phil Mickelson, each faced short birdie putts at No. 18, where their match was all square. Woods putted first from five feet and found the center of the hole. Then, instead of forcing Mickelson to sweat over his three-footer, Woods picked it up instead.

“Let’s go play,” he told Mickelson.

The move capped an exciting finish of The Match. Woods rallied from 1 down with a chip-in birdie at No. 17 that he punctuated with a fist-pump. That set the match all square and sent the two competitors back to the 18th tee for some bonus golf. Follow the conclusion of The Match here.
